Cloaks or Capes?
Some folks refer to our capes as cloaks. It makes no difference to us considering that there seems to be very little difference in their definitions. See for yourself, courtesy of Wikipedia:
CloakA cloak is a type of loose garment which is worn over indoor clothing and serves the same purpose as an overcoat – it protects the wearer from the cold, rain or wind for example, or it may form part of a fashionable outfit (e.g. opera cloak) or uniform.
CapeA cape is an article of clothing, and can be used to describe any sleeveless outer garment, such as a poncho, but usually it is a long garment that covers only the back half of the wearer, fastening about the neck of the wearer.
So are they cloaks?
It seems as if the only difference is that a cape tends to cover only the wearer's back whereas a cloak may or may not cover all of the wearer. Since our capes (or cloaks!) can be worn either way I don't suppose it would matter much if we called them cloaks.
With that being said, if you're looking for a cloak, you've come to the right place. We just call them capes.
